Point load tester is putting a rock specimen  between two spherical conical plate,Concentrated load is applied to the specimen，until its destruction.Then calculated according to pointload strength of rock failure load.Point load strength is classified as rock strength and rock weathering classification index,it is also used to evaluate the degree of anisotropic rock strength,and it be estimated with other uniaxial compressive strength and tensile strength and other indicators related.

Point load strength test is applicable to all types of regular or irregular rocks, either in drill core, it can be from the rock outcrop, exploration pit, adit, taken in rock roadway. The test were measured in the natural state of the rock point load strength.
